How RELATIONSHIPS affect your HEALTH!

Being in a relationship is a beautiful thing. Scientists say that isolation can cause an increase in one's susceptibility to diseases by up to 20 percent. As much as this is scary, it's true though!. Nature has taught us on how relationship is vital to our survival from the seasonal migration of birds, mammals and fishes from one part of the earth to another in groups to reproduce and seek for food, to the presence of both male and female gametes even in micro-organisms for reproduction.

There are benefits to being in a relationship as well as challenges involved. Humans are very social creatures and as such would love to interact with one and another. But certain features must be found in a relationship to make it work. They are:

- trust;
- honesty;
- openness;
- integrity;
- support;
- ability to admit mistakes;
- good listening ears and;
- selflessness.

On this note, we must understand that only healthy relationships can breed great health benefits. But achieving such relationship is a two-way street, so both parties must be involved in the exercise to make things work out well. So without further ado, lets see the health benefits of being in a relationship.

Health benefits of being in a relationship:

1. It can encourage proper dieting and weight loss
When people in relationships especially couples decide to assist each other to achieving their dieting and weight loss goals, it becomes much easier for them, seeing that one can motivate the other during challenging times and vice-versa. This can in turn have a very positive impact on their overall health.

2. It can help reduce stress
Sexual intimacy in relationships have been found to help boost the overall well-being of couples and ease stress. Studies have confirmed that people in relationships whether married or not, tend to produce less of the stress hormone cortisol. Even the thought of a partner during stressful times can be relieving.

3. It can help numb your pain
As much as this may sound too good to be true, it has being proven scientifically that folks who were intensely in love when subjected to pain or pressure and were shown pictures of a loved one experienced milder pains unlike others who weren't that much in love. The picture served as a distraction and helped prevent too much pain, but a picture of another person of equal attractiveness was not helpful.

4. It can help increase life expectancy
Amazing right! Studies have shown that non-married people have a significantly increased risk of death compared with married people of same age-range even after adjusting to other socioeconomic factors. Apart from studies, it is obvious that non-married people tend to indulge in habits or acts that could endanger their lives like reckless driving, over-drinking, drug abuse, and acts of sorts. But this actions are drastically reduced among married folks. This may be due to love for their partner or family or probably much responsibilities on them.

5. It can help boost wealth
Couples tend to accumulate more wealth than singles especially among the married ones research says. Income from both parties can be better at providing for their needs and also for savings in case of unforeseen circumstances and for taking vacations. More so, one of the couples income can suffice even during a financial crisis of the partner.

6. Emotional support;

7. Happiness, more leisure time and lots more.

More interestingly, is that being in a relationship is a much more easier way to avoid loneliness. So with this I would advice that one delve into this healthy way of living and so enjoy its benefits.

HAPPY VALENTINE and MUCH LOVE from ME to YOU on this DAY!
